“Oulu, Finland must be a miserable, extremely depressing place since the glorious days of the suicidal rockers Sentenced a pitch black shadow of suffering follows the musical steps of the bandís famous former vocalist Ville Laihiala who has not strayed a bit from this path in his current act POISONBLACK. The bandís new album “Of Rust And Bones” marks no exception.
After the phenomenal chart success of its predecessors “Lust Stained Despair” (#2 in Finland) and “A Dead Heavy Day” (#6 in Finland), POISONBLACK are ready to continue spreading their sonic poison and infect the masses with highly addictive dark rock hymns.”

Wow……Where to begin? Artist “Poisonblack”, from Finland is releasing the album “Of Rust Of Bones” on several dates, the European release is scheduled for 22.03.10. Overall the production is great, professionally done. Everything is well rounded out sound wise, volume levels perfect, master and mix process sound good.
Personally I can not stand this album, maybe its not my genre, but I like to think of myself as pretty open when it comes to alternative formats and musical styles. Immediately after putting this disc in and playing it, I stopped it at exactly the 00:40 mark of the first track. Congratulations to the country of Finland for being the first country that I know of to release a 9 track self-help audio disc. This would be a concert I would take a girlfriend to just to show I have a “sensitive” side. It is extremely reminiscent of the standard U.S. radio crap that fills the air waves here. Commercialised and with “feeling”. This is definately the album for your modern rock fan, its fairly similar to bands such as “Metallica”. Same style vocals, the guitars lack the imagination, but still fall into the category, nothing really noteworthy with the drums and bass, but I only expect as much.
Standard rock album with feeling, I guess would be the best way to describe this album. And it carries an attached message of hope being somewhere, but the message is kind of scattered throughout the disc. It seems like something you would listen to if you couldn’t find a buddy in an AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meeting.
Unfortunately thats the nicest way I can sum up the disc, Metallica fans this is a definite buy, but anyone else looking for an album with a spine and a little less of a vanity issue look the other way.
