“The main idea behind BLOOD OF KINGU is Black Metal inspired by and paying homage to Sumerian, ancient Egyptian, ancient Tibetan and Indo-Aryan mythology, demonology and astronomy. BLOOD OF KINGU reflects Nature and Elements’ power, showing the real sense of Black Metal searching for Purity, Knowledge and Abyss. BLOOD OF KINGU’s Art is far removed from the world of humans and ignorant creations like politics, technology, urbanization, religious contradictions and modern hypocritical values / ideals.”
Review:
So here we have Candlelight Recording artist BLOOD OF KINGU, and their recent release “Sun In The House Of The Scorpion”. Well long story short, it is exactly what you would expect……hard, fast, loud, and in your face. Sharply recorded and produced -the only complaint I have is that the vocals and the guitar are far too loud at times, which drown out the other elements going on in the background. Besides that, it is nothing short of a great listen. Doing things a bit different than most, these guys seem to be using atmosphere to drive the album forward, for example low tuned keyboard swells and tribalistic beats move tracks along, which is so uncommon in the genre as compared to something like a double bass beat used as a fill. But overall between the spookiness factor and the catchiness this album will definitely sell to those who wish for the black metal to return to its roots but yearn for a revision. The one thing I was dreading most on this album was the track “Incantation Of He Who Sleeps”, looking at the track time of that and thinking about that and the genre time, it just did’t seem like a promising event. But they made so much more than what I expected in a 10 minute track. A well composed, haunting track, seems like they had harnessed the sounds of hell and put them on display for all to hear.
So in conclusion, something more for the true fan of original black metal, fast times, chilling atmospheres, and a dying sound beckoning you to follow. This is an absolute win. Great job guys and keep up the good work.
